Jackson had planned on sitting out the entire season but he was advised to report to the Chargers because it could have affected his potential unrestricted free agency for next season.
“I’m happy Vincent is here,” said general manager A.J. Smith to reporters. “I have no doubt he will go to work, work hard and quickly get into game-shape. Once he starts playing in games, I don’t think it will take him long for him to be a contributor and help us.”
He will serve a three game suspension and should eligible to return November 28 against the San Francisco 49ers.
