ESPN's Joe Schad has tweeted that Baxter informed the school's 'compliance department' that five schools illegally contacted him over the phone, asking him if he wished to transfer from USC after the Trojans got hammered by the NCAA.
Those five schools are Fresno State, Washington, Oregon, and finally (gasp) Alabama and Florida.
The rule for poaching true freshmen: it is allowed, but the athletes' school must be notified of the recruitment and establish reasonable restrictions. Apparently, USC had not been notified by anyone.
