... you are not in a BCS conference, like Boise State and TCU, every regular season game is a playoff game. Alabama, in the tough SEC, can lose a game and still be in contention for the BCS title game, but a loss by Boise State or TCU puts them out of the BCS altogether.

This is a rare season since both Boise State and TCU are already in the top 10, so both have a legitimate chance to be the first non-BCS schools to make it to the BCS title game.

Boise State was pushed by a very good Virginia Tech team in what was essentially a road game for the Broncos. TCU played Oregon State in Dallas Stadium in what was an entertaining game in which the Beavers fell short.
