It's not an astronomical number—the six-year deal will pay Meyer $4 million annually. When you think about the amount of money that has been generated as a result of Meyer's immense success as skipper of UF's football squad, through merchandise sales, season ticket sales, and recruiting, it's hard to feel that the contract is unfair.
Of course, this very contract makes Meyer the highest paid coach in SEC history. So what? If you're a fan of American sports, it's hard not to realize that coach and player salaries seem to be going no where but up.
