Since 2007, these are the number of SEC games played when the opponent had an open week prior to the game (according to one site):
17—Alabama, 5—LSU, 4—Vanderbilt, 4—Florida, 4—Tennessee, 3—Georgia, 3—Auburn, 2—Kentucky, 1—Ole Miss, 1—Mississippi State, 0—Arkansas, 0—South Carolina
But it's gone to the extreme this year with six of it's eight SEC opponents all taking their bye week before the Alabama game.
It's not just coincidence, as you've seen some teams do it every year.
