At one point it seemed a West Coast super conference was inevitable. The PAC-16 could have led to an East Coast versus West Coast gridiron turf war as they would compete with the Big Ten and SEC for national media prominence and football dominance.
But all the media hype in the world couldn't attract the ringleader, Texas, from jumping of the Big 12 ship and at the end, the PAC-10 added only two, Colorado and Utah, to join the party in 2011.
