You would have thought that the schools receiving invites would be dropping rose petals at their liberator's feet. There were even murmurs that Texas, the white whale, would be the lucky one to snare a bid.
Prestige, academics, and, most importantly, lots and lots and lots of money -- if college football's most exclusive club was to come calling, who in their right mind would pass it up?
