The first game of their season on Sept. 5 against Jacksonville State will be the easiest of their non-conference opponents. The Gamecocks feature a dangerous Ryan Perrilloux who is recovering from the LSU fallout but otherwise offer no significant threat to the Jackets.
Mississippi State will be rebuilding this year after a rough 4-8 record in 2008. The Bulldogs are a tough team to beat at home though as their last seven wins have come in Davis Wade Stadium.
