Dunlap was out drinking with other members of the team according to Dunlap's father, Carlos Dunlap Sr. He said Dunlap had managed to make it almost back to his apartment before falling asleep at the wheel of a car with the engine running in gear at a green light.
Dunlap Sr. said the player tried to get the police to let him walk home, but they declined.
Dunlap would not allow police to give him a breathalyzer test. However, he failed a regular field sobriety test at the scene and was immediately arrested.
