Ohio State put their foot on the neck of rival Penn State in Happy Valley, 24-7, to lay claim as the eminent challenger for the Nittany Lions' Big 10 crown.
The Buckeye position was further enhanced by Iowa's dismal performance and 17-10 loss to unranked Northwestern in a game played on the Hawkeyes' home field.
The Iowans lost their quarterback, Ricky Stanzi, to injury early on and did not seem to be the same team who rallied so valiantly in many previous games this season.
Next up for the Hawkeyes? Ohio State in Columbus.
Alabama eased past LSU as expected 24-15, to set up an SEC Title game between the Crimson Tide and the defending BCS champion Florida.
