A Bad Omen to Start the Game Against USC for the Cal Bears

... It all started with a great kickoff return by Shane Vereen. For Bears fans, there was hope that a strong start would be key especially with the drive.

It started with an eight yard run by Jahvid Best. Another run to Best that went nowhere, but the USC defender was called for a personal foul 15-yard facemask penalty.

Riley then opted to throw a quick pass to Anthony Miller, the Bears tight end, that went for 22 yards. The very next play was another quick throw this time to Vereen, which got the Bears into first-and-goal from the six yard-line.
