Upsets similar to Wyoming's victory at Tennessee and Bowling Green State's win at Pittsburgh, both in 2008, are partly why I follow college football. Mid-major programs are expected to lose games to BCS teams; so when programs like Boise State or Texas Christian excel, college football hounds naturally flock towards the respective teams' star players.
