They have become ever more frequent under coach Jeff Tedford, who took over a California team that was reeling from a 1-11 2001 season.
Since then Golden Bears have risen to national recognition - as a perennial bowl team and Pac-10 contender, rather than a conference punching bag.
The revival and return to prominence was led by many recognizable players - from Aaron Rodgers, to Marshawn Lynch and Desean Jackson.
However, this column is dedicated to those under-the-radar Bears, some who made significant contributions despite not always posting outrageous stats.
So without further ado, I present the Tedford Era's All-Underrated Team.
