The bowl system was deemed to be too sacred for a complete reformation.
The compromise was the Bowl Championship Series.
Every year the BCS has been tweaked. It started with four bowl games. Now the BCS consists of five bowl games.
My contention is that when the BCS was first created the tradition of the bowl games became antiquated.
So here is my idea for a college football playoff system:
Get rid of the preseason polls. Keep the regular season at 12 games. When the first BCS poll comes out in October, that will be after a month of the season...
