ESPN’s Todd McShay has Patrick Peterson Going to Cleveland Browns in Latest Mock
Many people know that I’m very high on Patrick Peterson, considering him the best pure player in the draft. On top of that, I consider him a sure thing in a draft that has very few of them; a lot of depth but not much at the top.
I’d say roughly 75% of mock drafts out there have the Browns selecting A.J. Green. Myself and Todd McShay are in the vocal minority that has the Browns going defense, and in McShay’s latest mock, draft, he has the Browns selecting Peterson.
McShay said of the selection: “Our AFC scout could have taken DE/OLB Robert Quinn or WR Julio Jones to fill significant needs but getting perhaps the best player on the board at No. 6 was too good an opportunity to pass up.”
Since this was a draft done with the assistance of scouts, it’s one I look at more seriously. Could the tide actually be turning to a selection of Peterson? Yes, that would be two top ten picks on cornerbacks, and the defensive line would still have holes, but Peterson is a great talent.
If Patrick Peterson is still on the board with the sixth overall pick, I can’t see the Browns passing on him; it’s too much value for where he’s going.
