Dear Isaiah Crowell, Ray Drew, John Jenkins, Jay Rome, Malcolm Mitchell and all the other members of the 2011 “Dream Team,”

Welcome to Athens, Georgia. As a fan, student and supporter of the University of Georgia football I cannot wait for the 2011 football season.

You have a dream, but right now, that is the only thing it is, a dream. Only you can decide whether that dream becomes a reality.

As a “dream team” you will have to merge with the current Georgia Bulldogs team and come together to accomplish the ultimate goal of winning a championship.

As much as this article is directed to the 2011 recruiting class, this is more so directed to the entire Georgia Bulldogs football team.

There are many obstacles that you will face when you enter college: downtown Athens, driving with a suspended license and academic issues.

First, downtown Athens is a great place. You will have some of the great moments of your college career there, but it is a very dangerous place.

Be responsible. You can only blame yourself for what happens down there. I will admit the cops suck, but deal with it.

After an eventful night downtown DO NOT GET BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR. A taxicab is only $4; it is worth every penny of that.

On selected nights there is also this service called Designated Dawgs. You can find more information on their website, ugadesignateddawgs.org.

Basically, this is a service that will give you a free ride on selected nights. No fees, no questions, just a ride back to your place. There is absolutely no reason for you to get behind the wheel of a car and drive. End of story.

Here is another driving issue. If you have a suspended license, DO NOT DRIVE. Period. End of story. I don’t know how else I can expand on that; it is that simple.

Also, don’t steal bike helmets; there is no need to. I will buy you one if you need it (but that is probably an NCAA violation, so just ask the coaches and they can get you one). Bottom line, this isn’t something that you should do.

The University of Georgia has a great football program, but it is also a great educational school as well.

I don’t know how well you perform academically, to be frank I don’t care. However, do well and be on top of your classes. You will have all the tutors, previous tests and mentors that you need. So there is no reason for you not to do well.

If you get in trouble in a different county or state, report it. Plain and simple, own up to your responsibilities. If you have to show up to court in another county, let the coaching staff know.

If you want to play on Saturdays you will follow these simple rules, which leads me to the next issue.

This issue is the reason why you were offered a scholarship to attend the University of Georgia, and it is what happens between the hedges.

I am talking about Saturdays in Athens, between the hedges in front of 92,742 of your closest friends

There is nothing else like it…sorry Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina and the rest of the SEC.

There is nothing like waking up on a crisp, Saturday morning in the fall to the sights and sounds of Athens, Georgia.

If you haven’t experienced it you are missing out; if you have experienced it, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

The toughest road trip this year is at Tennessee, and I hate rocky top. Not the school or city, that is a different story for a different time, but the fight song. Plain and simple, don’t give them a reason to play it once the game kicks off. I don’t want to hear it.

You guys have the talent, ability and depth to do something special this year in Athens.

This journey will start Sept. 3 in the Georgia Dome against Boise State, that much has already been decided.

However, it is up to you when this journey ends. It can end Nov. 26 against Georgia Tech, late Dec. in a terrible bowl game or it could end in New Orleans.

This journey can include an early Dec. trip to Atlanta, and then conclude with a weeklong business trip to New Orleans that culminates with an 8:30 kickoff on Jan. 9, 2012.

Becoming a contributing and well-educated member of society is your goal.

Bringing a winning attitude back to this Georgia football program is your goal.

Beating the hell out of Florida is your goal.

The 2011 SEC Eastern Division Championship is your goal.

Winning the SEC Championship in Atlanta on Dec. 4, 2011 is your goal.

Winning the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 9, 2012 is your goal.
