Everyone knows that Michigan has the tradition to scoop up Les Miles.

They have the facilities and fanbase as well.

Les Miles has Michigan ties and more than likely would be paid handsomely.

But does Michigan have the right grass?

That may sound like a completely ridiculous question, but all you have to do is take a quick peak at the 2010 season for the relevance of this query.

Back in November, as Les was attempting to slay the Nick Saban demon, he bent down during a crucial fourth-down play, snatched some Tiger Stadium turf and proceeded to chow down.

Apparently it’s a little routine that makes coach Miles feel as one with the game, and Michigan has read him loud and clear.

Rumor around Ann Arbor is that dozens of different turf companies have been vying for the chance to be the magical sod that leads Les Miles back to the Maize and Blue, and who could blame them.

Can you think of how many diehard Wolverine fans would jump at the chance to landscape their lawn with the same turf that would be hand picked to travel down Les Miles’ digestive track?

The Michigan brass, who must be feeling hurt having not even been allowed a sniff of golden boy Jim Harbaugh, are hard preparing a lineup of turf tasting experts in hopes of narrowing the selection down to four contenders, and it has not been an easy task.

One Michigan insider was quoted, “It’s hard; it’s really, really hard. I’ve tried 27 different blades of grass myself today, and they all have different textures and aromas. Some are more crisp than others. It’s just going to be a long process, and we’re going to have to really hunker down to find the select few that we feel can close the deal with Coach Miles.”

Michigan needs to hit a home run with this hire after the bitter taste Rich Rodriguez left in the mouth of Wolverine fans everywhere.

Only time, and Les Miles’ taste buds, will tell if the grass they choose will lead them to a relationship they can grow and cultivate into a winner on the field.
