Injuries are nothing new for wide receiver Donnie Avery, who tore his ACL in his right knee, and will miss the entire 2010 season.

Lucky for the Rams, receiver Laurent Robinson is back after ending the 2009 season on IR, and will be their No. 1 receiver with Avery’s injury.

Second-year receiver Danny Amendola has been a pleasant surprise since being signed from Philadelphia’s practice squad, and has shown potential of being one of the top slot receivers and return men in the NFL. 

St. Louis also drafted receiver Mardy Gilyard in the third-round of the NFL Draft.

Robinson, Amendola and Gilyard are the only receivers on the Rams’ roster that are even a lock to make the team, and none of which have shown enough to be no. 1 receivers in the NFL.

Now, lets take a trip down memory lane, when the St. Louis Rams were the “Greatest Show on Turf.” 

They had two All-Pro receivers in Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, both of whom, at one time, were the top receivers in the NFL. They also had a a star running back in Marshall Faulk, and a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Kurt Warner.

Although none of the players the Rams have now can compare to those I just named, they aren’t far away from having another star offense.

They already have the most complete-back in the NFL in Steven Jackson, and used their first-overall pick this summer on quarterback Sam Bradford.

All they need is star receiver to give them a, well at least, “Good Show on Turf.”

Enter Vincent Jackson, the star-holdout receiver looking for a big payday, which the Rams have the money to do.

The 6’5″, 230 lb receiver out of Northern Colorado would remind many St. Louis fans of the former star-receiver duo they once had in Bruce and Holt. 

Given the Rams have draft picks and money to give him a long-term extension, they shouldn’t have any trouble making the move for Jackson.
