This year’s Gator Bowl matchup for Friday Jan. 1 features the 9-3 West Virginia Mountaineers and the 6-6 Florida State Seminoles. The big story in this one is the final game for Bobby Bowden.
During his storied career at Florida State, he has assured himself a place as one of the best college coaches of all time. The potential of hosting Bobby Bowden’s final game drew the Gator Bowl to invite Florida State over several other better teams. Apparently the ploy worked as the game sold out in a mere two hours.
