The situation was fueled last week when Alabama journalist Paul Finebaum wrote a fiery, but relatively unsupported, piece declaring that Meyer would be heading to Notre Dame to take the head coaching job of the football team after the 2009 season.

Meyer apparently grew sick of the meaningless speculation, and issued a firm statement to several reporters on Saturday. "I'm not going to Notre Dame. Ever," Meyer said. "I'm going to be the coach at Florida for a long time, as long as they want me."
